At Leading Edge Physiotherapy, community isn’t an afterthought—it’s why we exist. This year, as we surpass $3 million in donations and volunteer hours, we’ve doubled down on our commitment to Edmonton, St. Albert, Calgary, and now Kelowna. From heart-pounding pickleball rallies to student mentorship, every initiative is powered by one belief: when our community thrives, so do we.
RunWild & the Power of Footsteps
Since 2011, RunWild has been our cornerstone fundraiser, uniting runners, walkers, and volunteers in St. Albert and Sherwood Park. This year alone, we raised over $200,000 for our Alberta local heroes:
- Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre
- St. Albert Seniors Association
We also extended support to the Chinook Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and the Caribou Child & Youth Centre, ensuring children across Alberta have safe spaces to heal and grow.
Snapshot of Our Past and Present Signature Events
Beyond RunWild, our team has spearheaded and supported events that blend activity, fun, and purpose:
- Cashmob St. Albert: Mobilized 70+ shoppers per event, infusing over $96,000 into local small businesses.
- Points for Pilgrims Hospice: Donated $39,350 to fund Expressive Arts for Grieving Children, Teens, and Families. This was one of our earliest initiatives more than 15 years ago.
- Leading Edge Comedy Night: Raised $60,000 for ISTAR, Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, Zebra Centre, and Kids Kottage.
- Glenrose Courage Classic: Contributed $20,000 to rehabilitation programs at the Glenrose Foundation.
- St. Albert Rugby Football Club: Continue to sponsor more than $25,000 toward youth sports fields.
- 630 CHED Santa’s Anonymous: Spread holiday cheer with $15,300 in toys and essentials. This is an annual event that Leading Edge volunteers and donates to.
- Cross Cancer Institute: Donated $8,400 to cancer care in Edmonton.
- Edmonton Valley Zoo: Supported wildlife and education with $6,200.
These figures are just a snapshot of our giving in 2025—together, we’re creating waves of impact. - Leading Edge Pickleball Courts – Leduc Alberta

Pickleball With Purpose: Paddle Battle
Our inaugural Paddle Battle brought together beginners and pros on the courts of Edmonton to raise vital funds for I Challenge Diabetes. Beyond the friendly competition, every serve, volley, and high-five echoed our mission: health is more than physical movement—it’s community spirit in motion. Heading into our 3rd year, we are proving that pickling can be quite charitable.

Leading Edge Comedy Night – Now we really are kidding around but raising money at the same time
What better way to raise money than to laugh for a good cause.
Every year you can join us for Leading Edge Comedy Night during the Edmonton Comedy Festival—two exclusive shows packed with top local and national talent, live at the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns! Every laugh you share helps fuel our community: 100% of ticket proceeds go to local charities that change year to year, so you’ll be supporting fresh causes each time. We have raised north of $60,000 thanks to all of your support.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of yeg’s biggest night of comedy and community spirit. These shows always sell out fast! For information on how you can enjoy a night of laughter and giving please follow us on Facebook.

Educating for a Healthier Tomorrow
We believe knowledge empowers change. This year, we’ve:
- Mentored over 40 University of Alberta physiotherapy and kinesiology students through clinical placements.
- Launched Sports Medicine Programs in local high schools, equipping teens with injury-prevention skills.
- Hosted free workshops on pelvic health, concussion care, and ergonomics for workplaces across Alberta and B.C.
- The Leading Edge Scholarship has awarded more than $40,000 to future physiotherapists across Canada.
When people understand their bodies, they move better, live better, and inspire others to do the same.
TeleREHAB: Care Across Distance
Our TelePhysio and TeleOT services have broken down geographic barriers, delivering compassionate, expert care to remote communities in Northern Alberta is where it all started but heading to remote British Columbia and Canada is where we are going. From tele-ergonomic assessments to virtual concussion rehab, we’re ensuring no one is left without access to the therapy they need. We are expanding our Cognitive Rehab Services across Canada using this amazing platform. By doing so, we expand the impact and change we can deliver to people facing challenges beyond the communities we have walls in.
