together, we have raised over $3 million for our communities.

The Why

When we started Leading Edge Physiotherapy we conceived an idea of holding or attending events yearly that aligned with our business culture of having a tonne of fun, getting people healthy, providing exceptional experiences and giving back. We are dedicated to being an active contributing member to the prosperity and health of the communities we live and work in. In fact, one of our paramount business goals is to “to serve the individual, the community and ultimately all of those that we treat.” In striving to achieve this goal, we volunteer our professional and personal time to improve the health of this community. We wouldn’t be here without all of you and your support. We couldn’t make a difference in the community without all of you and your support. Our why ends with all of you!

Community isn’t a buzz word to us

Community is the heartbeat of everything we do.
It’s the people who show up, lift each other up, and lean in when life gets heavy. It’s shared laughter in the waiting room, high-fives after hard-fought recoveries, and the quiet understanding that we’re all in this together. We know that true medicine doesn’t occur within clinical walls. It happens on driveways, at soccer games, in grocery stores and it occurs between human beings. At Leading Edge, community means connection—with purpose, with grit, and with heart. It’s not just where we work. It’s who we work for.

We Educate

We also serve our professional community through development and training of over 40 University of Alberta Physiotherapy and Kinesiology students, with some of our therapists and owners being Clinical Lecturers at the University.  This education also extends to local schools where we have sponsored the development of Sports Medicine Programs in local high schools and frequently speak to classes.

We Have Fun Giving – If you join us you can too!

At Leading Edge Physiotherapy, we love to have fun.  This is highlighted in some of our annual charity events including the Leading Edge Comedy Night which takes place during the Edmonton Comedy Festival every Fall. We purchase entire shows and resell the tickets to our community of patients, friends, family and colleagues for an unbelievably entertaining evening that raises money for charities that have included the Zebra Child Protection Centre and Kids Kottage.  We also have the pleasure of sponsoring many golf events including the Strathcona Community Hospital Foundation, Special Olympics Alberta, 630 Ched Santa’s Anonymous tournament every year (we can’t list all of the tournaments because the page would be too long).  Every May, we get to spend an evening swooning over Jim Cuddy as he plays for the Centre For Family Literacy. If there is an event making a difference, we try to be there and we love inviting people on our adventure. These are but a few of the many amazing events we have fun at every year.

Our In House Initiatives

Cashmob St. Albert – That’s Us

In September of 2012 in St. Albert, Heidi started a local “CashMob” which is a spontaneous group of shoppers who descend on a local small business.  We are a local small business ourselves and recognize the importance of supporting other independent small businesses whenever we can, including our yearly staff Christmas presents.  To date, we have mobbed 21 businesses, with an average of 70 people per mob spending $2200 in an hour, for a total of over $96,000 in local economic stimulus.

Leading Edge Comedy Night – Now we really are kidding around but raising money at the same time

What better way to raise money than to laugh for a good cause.

Every year you can join us for Leading Edge Comedy Night during the Edmonton Comedy Festival—two exclusive shows packed with top local and national talent, live at the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns! Every laugh you share helps fuel our community: 100% of ticket proceeds go to local charities that change year to year, so you’ll be supporting fresh causes each time.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of yeg’s biggest night of comedy and community spirit. These shows always sell out fast! For information on how you can enjoy a night of laughter and giving please follow us on Facebook.

Paddle Battle: Pickleball With Purpose

At Leading Edge Physiotherapy, we believe movement heals—and giving back does too. Paddle Battle isn’t just a pickleball tournament. It’s a celebration of community, connection, and compassion. Whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up a paddle for the first time, this event is about showing up, sweating a little, and supporting something bigger than yourself.

Held annually in Edmonton, Paddle Battle brings together teams from all walks of life for a day of laughter, friendly competition, and shared purpose. From the first serve to the final rally, every moment is infused with energy, encouragement, and the kind of joy that only comes from doing good while having a blast.

We play to raise funds for causes that matter—like I Challenge Diabetes—because we know that health isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, social, and deeply human. Paddle Battle is our way of saying: we care, we show up, and we rally for change.

So grab a paddle, bring a friend, and join us. Because when we come together, we don’t just play—we make a difference

Rinks, Driving Ranges, Cross Country Ski Facilities and More… Pickleball

From community Hockey Rinks (Edmonton, Leduc, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Kelowna), Golf Course Driving Ranges (Sherwood Park) and Curling Rinks (St. Albert) to Pickleball Courts, Leading Edge loves to support activity in our communities.

The Leading Edge Picklball Courts: Nestled in William F. Lede Park beside the Leduc Recreation Centre, our 12 outdoor pickleball courts are a gift to the community—sponsored by Leading Edge Physiotherapy in partnership with the City of Leduc and Leduc County. Open free of charge from May 1 through September 30 (5 a.m.–11 p.m.), these courts are designed for everyone, whether you’re a weekend warrior or new to the game.

Court Features & Access

  • 12 dedicated concrete courts with permanent lines and nets
  • Open seasonally, first-come, first-served—no reservations required
  • Free public use; simply show up with your paddle and sneakers
  • Operated by the City of Leduc, maintained for safety and quality

Why We Love These Courts

Pickleball brings people together—neighbors rally under the sun, families laugh between matches, and friendships form at the net. By sponsoring these courts, Leading Edge Physiotherapy celebrates movement, connection, and the simple joy of play.

Grab your paddle, invite a friend, and join us in turning every serve and volley into a moment of community.

Thanks for your help. Lets keep this rolling!

Striving to be integral to the health and prosperity of our community, Leading Edge is dedicated to giving back. To this end, we know that we can’t make a major difference in this world alone.  To all of you who have attended one of our events, sponsored an event, volunteered with us or just attended our clinic, we thank you.  Together we look forward to continuing to make our community a better place.

Charity Garden

These are the heroes working away in our communities making a difference in the lives of those who need a hand. We don’t have room for every charity we support, but check out the work these ones do, and consider sending them some of your support while you’re at it:

Our Charity of the Year

RunWild volunteers present to over 6000 local Edmonton and area students every year, sharing the message of healthy living and community giving through pep rallies, also encouraging awareness about child abuse, cyber safety and the important work of Child Advocacy Centres. But we know we cannot be everywhere, and we know that the actual format of the successful RunWild event in Edmonton is not easy to recreate. The RunWild Canada Program is for schools and classes that cannot join us at our in person races hosted in St. Albert, Spruce Grove or Sherwood Park.

This event combines the passion that Leading Edge Physiotherapy has for activity, health, giving back to our community and of course having fun.
