personality

Alex grew up in South-West Edmonton where he played basketball and gained experience through lifeguarding and volunteering as Ski Patroller. He had a passion for all things scientific and nerdy and worked through the first two years of his undergraduate degree unsure of where to direct this passion. He was first directed to (and heard of) occupational therapy from his sister who had worked with them as a nurse, her understanding was that it involved problem solving, helping people, physiology, and psychology, all things that Alex was passionate about. He pursued the path of occupational therapy all the way to Limerick, Ireland where he developed himself both as a person and a young professional. Currently, he still loves playing sports, the outdoors, and games of all kinds … but he also enjoys helping his clients get back to doing the things they love.

edge

Alex received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and psychology minor with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2021. He then worked at Leading Edge for the year as an assistant to gain experience and solidify that he wanted to become an occupational therapist. Following acceptance into the Masters of Occupational Therapy program at the University of Limerick he flew off to Ireland and spent two years learning what an occupational therapist is, and how to be one. Following his graduation with honors in distinction in August 2024, he came back to Leading Edge, bringing with him a strong foundation and experiences in stroke rehabilitation, pediatrics, and community healthcare. Alex is passionate about helping people and is building his expertise in a wide range of areas to provide holistic care that treats the person, not just their condition.
