personality
Alexis grew up in Calgary, where she trained as a competitive dancer from a young age. Her love of movement inspired her to pursue a degree in Human Kinetics, after which she worked briefly as a Kinesiologist before being accepted into the Occupational Therapy program at Dalhousie University. During both her undergraduate and master’s studies, she rediscovered her competitive spirit through Olympic weightlifting, earning her NCCP Coaching Certification and coaching at the local level.
She is passionate about empowering women in sport and promoting active living within her community. Although she no longer competes in weightlifting, Alexis stays highly active and has recently fallen in love with Pilates. Outside the clinic, she enjoys road biking, skiing, and hiking with her dog, Tilly.
As an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), Alexis has a strong interest in treating complex hand injuries and especially enjoys working with clients with neurological conditions. She is committed to helping people return to their activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) as efficiently as possible. With a deep understanding of how profoundly hand injuries can affect a person’s life, she brings skill, empathy, and determination to every client she supports.
