personality
Jim grew up in Calgary and played multiple sports throughout the process. It would be through these sport-based pursuits (and the injuries he collected along the way) that he found his fascination with the human body begin to develop. He started weight training in high school and soon thought that a career involving something to do with the human body would be something he’d enjoy doing. He soon found himself with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and spending lots of time in gyms, exercise physiology laboratories, and fitness facilities working with athletes and other individuals. He loved every minute of it, but knew he also wanted to be able to help heal those who couldn’t train at full capacity due to pain or injuries. So, he opted for more school! Fast-forward a few years later and he now helps athletes, weekend warriors, and average Joe’s alike overcome injuries, build up their strength, and learn what their bodies are truly capable of achieving!

edge
Jim received his clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy in conjunction with an advanced certificate in orthopedics from D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York, in 2019. Upon graduation, he returned to Calgary where he started his clinical career while continuing to advance his postgraduate training. He holds a certification in intramuscular stimulation (dry needling) and has taken additional coursework in myofascial release techniques. Having spent years working in various performance-based facilities and laboratories, Jim has a strong background in exercise physiology, and incorporates his passion for human health and wellness into his clinical treatment. He truly is a self-professed geek about the human body and wouldn’t have it any other way. He loves that he has something unique to bring to the Leading Edge team and that he’s part of a team who always shares their knowledge with him in a collaborative fashion.
