personality
Courtney’s passion for physiotherapy started with suffering multiple sports injuries and spending a lot of her youth in physiotherapy clinics (seeing a trend?). She loves her husband who has to share some of the attention with her other love, Lola, her chocolate lab. She loved documentaries about true crime and WWII making her Netflix suggestions list a little odd to say the least. She is inspired by her Grandpa who can “see the good in absolutely everyone and can always see the bright side of any situation.” This is an obvious fit for the Leading Edge environment as we see people who are often staring into a black hole with little bright side. Inspired by people who can find that bright side makes Courtney an amazing part of our team.
- Favorite books – Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan
- First Car – is still her current car. a 2005 silver Toyota Corolla complete with wind down windows, a broken tail light and custom aerodynamic hail vents.
- Movies she loves – Pride and Prejudice. All 5 hours of pure bliss brought to you by the BBC.
- Favorite activities – loves spin class, crosswords while watching the news, all kinds of hockey (watching and playing) and singing in the shower where the nobody can hear her.
- Clinical Pet Peeves – the little tabs in the needle packaging. They get everywhere and stick to everything! Also when Graham changes the music from country.
- Physio nickname – Court Wort from the Fort
- What her physio assistants say about her “oooh so many good things . . . kind, caring and hard working” (pretty sure there was a bribe involved).
- Did you know? Courtney is afraid of birds … especially large water fowl like geese and swans. Not a great phobia in Alberta that is for sure.
- Super human trait – she has a very heightened sense of smell, specifically for cucumbers (her most despised food). She can smell it if it is in the clinic, used in creams or soaps, or if someone has consumed it in the last 10-15 mins… Sadly Grant loves cucumbers.
- 5 things you will always find in her fridge – Coffee cream, peanut butter, pickles, ketchup and arm & hammer baking soda (to kill the smell of any cucumbers).
- A link to New Zealand – this physio is a dual citizen. Yup… she is also a Kiwi which should explain her patriotic picture
edge
Courtney graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science with distinction and completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2015. She has practiced exclusively in Sherwood Park since her graduation and has strong community ties. She has aggressively grown her post graduate orthopedic skills through courses with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association attaining her level 3 in 2019. She also attained Gunn IMS certification through the University of British Columbia in 2019. Additionally she is credentialed in medical acupuncture (2016) and is trained and certified to perform Radial Shockwave. From sports injuries to stubborn lingering pain, Courtney has the edge you need.
