personality
Marie-Josee grew up in Edmonton where she trained in ballet and contemporary dance (her first dream was to be a ballerina). Unfortunately, an injury made her re-examine her career choices. She briefly considered becoming an archeologist but realized this would involve a lot of dirt. Instead she was inspired by her passion of working with bodies in movement and taught various forms of dance before eventually pursuing a career in physiotherapy. She loves chocolate and shoes and spending time with her family… but she also loves teaching movement and looks forward to help her clients achieve their own movement and rehabilitation goals.
- Favorite book –
- Favorite sport – um… dance. Ballet to be specific.
- Favorite movie – she couldn’t possibly choose just one. She has a keen & diverse love of the arts which explains her choices for favorite movies: Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter (all of them) and anything featuring Audrey Hepburn or Fred Astaire
- Favorite Hobby –
- Clinical Pet Peeve –
- Something you may not know about her – when she was growing up she wanted to be an equestrian, a ballerina, an archaeologist and a race car driver… in that order.
- Staff say – “her smile can light up a room. Keep her out of the sun though.”
- Superhuman Talent – she can raise one eyebrow and flare her nostrils like a bunny… pretty sure these would only come in handy in a movie with the Rock.
edge
MJ did her undergraduate degree in Anthropology. A love for dance and movement as well as an aversion to dirt, lead her to complete her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University in 2012. Following her graduation she embarked on post graduate training. This included courses in McKenzie Method (for the diagnosis and treatment of lumbar spinal conditions) and Graston Technique (for the management of soft tissue injuries). In 2019 she embarked on an ambitious journey to complete her Level 1 Acupuncture Canada certification and Level 3 certification in NeuroKinetic Therapy. MJ brings her advanced treatment skills, knowledge of dance, fluency in French and her caring demeanor to every patient interaction.
