personality
- Favorite book – Harry potter
- Favorite sport – Figure skating – growing up she lived at the rink. Training as a competitive figure skater for 10+ years taught her a lot about hard work, discipline and perseverance. Even when you’ve fallen on your butt a few thousand times, you’ve got to get back up and try again. Luckily enough, coaching skating throughout undergrad and grad school was also the perfect part-time job.
- Favorite movie – Forest Gump – “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” Classic and heartwarming.
- Favorite Hobby – Gardening – While she has killed every indoor plant she’s ever owned, she claims to do much better with outdoor pots. Her favourites are pink peonies, but she avoid lilies because they make her sneeze!
- Clinical Pet Peeve – Running behind in her schedule. This will happen occasionally because she loves chatting and getting to know her patients. If they’re having a bad day, she makes it her personal mission to turn their frown upside down by the time they leave the clinic.
- Something people may not know about her – She was lucky enough to get to travel to Africa while volunteering there as a physiotherapist! On this trip, she was able to work in rural clinics offering rehabilitation and ran weekly exercise classes focused on health promotion within the community. Outside of the clinic, she explored the Serengeti, bungee jumped in Victoria Falls, trekked for gorillas in Uganda and cage dived with great white sharks in South Africa!
- Staff say – A lot actually like. . . “Does she ever slouch – how can anybody’s posture be so good?!!!” “Why does her voice go up one octave when she explains things to patients?”
- Superhuman Talent – Her standing balance is exceptional. Spending so many years figure skating AND having size 11 feet work towards her advantage. It’s a deadly combination.
