For the Pain in your Neck

Physical Therapists recommend a cervical pillow to help with night neck pain

Physiotherapists recommend cervical pillows for neck pain

Physical therapists know that proper support for your neck while you sleep can help reduce neck pain.  It can also improve the quality of your sleep and reverse the negative effects of fatigue.  If you are frequently waking up with a sore neck, or having trouble getting comfortable while going to sleep, you may want to consider seeing your physiotherapist to get a cervical pillow.

The incidence of neck pain typically increases with age and is reported more often by women. The pain may also radiate into the upper back and shoulders and can sometimes be accompanied by morning headaches. Neck pain is commonly caused by trauma, such as whiplash, or disease in the discs and facet joints. It can be worsened by stress, sleep problems, certain physical activities and exposure to cold.

Water-Base Cervical Pillows Improve Neck Position

Our physical therapists have found that for many patients, adjustable water-base cervical pillows can provide improved cervical neck positioning all night long.  These pillows respond to head movement and offer gentle, responsive support even if you change sleeping positions from your back to your side.  They can also have the firmness levels adjusted from soft, to medium, to firm depending on the specific problem or situation.  And they can play an important role as part of your recovery plan if you have recently strained your neck in an automobile accident or during a sports event.
